Working for the poor tirelessly, selflessly since 2008

Formed in February 2008, the Navdrushti Seva Sanstha (NSS) the Charitable Eye Care Hospital was born from the shared vision of eight founder members from different professions. Their goal: to provide affordable, quality healthcare to the rural and underprivileged population.

Over the years, this Charitable Eye Care Hospital has conducted numerous eye camps, general health camps, and eye surgeries, often in association with NGOs such as Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Yusuf Meharally Center. Since its inception, the Nair Super-Speciality Eye Hospital in New Panvel has been a technical and logistical backbone, supporting the mission of this Charitable Eye Care Hospital.

🎯 Mission of NSS

Provide affordable, quality healthcare to the very young and elderly in the poorest sections of society.

Offer access to education, particularly computer education, for underprivileged rural communities.

Coordinate with NGOs on rural development issues and extend technical expertise in healthcare initiatives.

Establish a central secretariat to manage and scale the Sanstha’s social development programs to Charitable Eye Care Hospital..

Free Eye Check-Up Camps

Since 2008, the Charitable Eye Care Hospital has organized hundreds of free eye camps across Raigad District and Navi Mumbai.
A weekly free eye camp at St. George Church, New Panvel, has been running consistently since 2012.

  • Free medicines are provided during camps.

  • Spectacles are offered at subsidized rates.

  • Cataract surgeries are arranged free or at concessional rates for needy patients.

School Eye Health Program

The Charitable Eye Care Hospital has successfully reached primary school children, detecting and treating sight-threatening conditions early.
Through collaboration with Nair Super-Speciality Eye Hospital, children requiring advanced or specialized treatment are supported without the heavy financial burden.

Collaborations with NGOs

NSS works hand-in-hand with several NGOs, including Lions Club International, Rotary Club, and Yusuf Meharally Trust. Together, they have implemented projects like:

General health and diabetic check-ups

Charitable Eye OPD

Every day, this Charitable Eye Care Hospital conducts a Charitable Eye OPD for two hours at Nair Super-Speciality Eye Hospital. Poor patients receive subsidized treatment from senior ophthalmologists.

 

Additionally:

Three major free cataract surgery camps are held annually on 15th August, 7th January, and 26th January. Together, they benefit around 200 patients each year.

With its ophthalmic ambulance (Mobile Eye Clinic), NSS reaches nearby villages to extend eye care to those who cannot travel.

Navdrushti School of Optometry

The Charitable Eye Care Hospital also runs a School of Optometry, offering vocational education to empower rural youth:

  • 3-year Diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques (affiliated to the Federation of Ophthalmic and Optometric Research and Education Centers, New Delhi).

  • 1-year Certificate Course in Ophthalmic Assistance covering disease screening and eye-care support.

Graduates from this school have successfully established themselves in optical outlets and corporate hospitals, making the program a true vehicle of empowerment.
